Android Park: Daniel Petersen is a talented indie developer from Canada.  With the brand name of  Games For Your Mind,  Daniel has released several Android Games on Google Play. Fuzz Ball is Daniel’s latest title which was considered by Daniel as a simple test to see if I could make an interactive character.  Android Park has interviewed Daniel recently. Today let’s get to know this talented developer & his game.

Android Park: Would you please introduce yourself to us and our readers?

Games For Your Mind: Hello everyone, my name is Daniel Petersen and I develop android games under the Games For Your Mind title. I am 35, Canadian, and my hobbies are computers, graphic design and walking. I get restless so I spend a lot of time walking…

Android Park: How do you start your career in designing or developing mobile game? Is there any interesting story which happened at the beginning of your gaming career

Games For Your Mind: I used to work up north in the oil patch but had some health problems a couple years ago. While I was waiting to recover, I started learning android app development. I started with a dummies book and moved on to deeper material from there. I love programming and I love making games that are creative. My first games had very poor graphics and were to difficult. They were more like homework than actually fun. But over time I have tried to adapt to peoples criticism and create more enjoyable experiences.

I like to think of game development as creating experiences for people. Its cool to see people having fun with my games or getting absorbed into the game mechanics. I noticed a major trend in Kids and even babies playing games on devices so I try to make my games non violent, although Spider Swarm is a bit rough and could be considered survival horror. I recently changed some of the sounds to make it a little sillier and less scary.

Android Park: How long have you been engaged in gaming industry? Are you enjoying in working in this industry? What makes you most excited in designing or developing a mobile game?

Games For Your Mind: I would not consider myself to really be in the gaming industry but only a hobbyist. Its something I do because I love programming and I will probably continue pursuing this direction in life.

Mobile gaming has huge potential, especially in the area of social networking and interaction. Playing against people in real time will keep getting better as device performance increases and bandwidth increases.

Android Park: Since Android and IOS are the two major mobile platforms that people use now, how do you think about the development future for these two platforms?

Games For Your Mind: Development for Android and IOS will continue to get easier and more user friendly for developers. Game engines like Unity are making it much easier, and recently much cheaper, to release games on both platforms. This should make it easier for higher quality games to be released.

Android Park: Tell us the story about this Android game.  What inspired you to make such an Android game ?

Games For Your Mind: Fuzz Ball started out as just a simple test to see if I could make an interactive character. The memory mechanics and game play were only an after thought so that it would be an actual game.

Android Park: Do you have something special to say to our readers and your future fans ?

Games For Your Mind: Thanks to everyone who plays and enjoys Fuzz Ball. Thanks for the positive reviews and I hope that these games continue to entertain and offer unique gameplay.
