Android Park: Kapaoo Games is an independent developer team from Belgium. They just released their latest Android game Mars Patrol. The game was designed based on the developer’s favourite arcade games of all time. Let’s listen to the interesting stories behind the game.
Android Park: Would you please introduce yourself to us and our readers?
Kapaoo Games: Hello everyone, My name is Rene, I am 42 and I was born and live in Belgium. I am in charge of all the programming part of the games. My colleague is Jean-Charles, 40 years old, and he is originally from France but for the last 10 years he lives in Thailand. He’s doing the graphic part of the games. We both like Thailand and for people who already travel there you will know where our logo comes from.
Android Park: How do you start your career in designing or developing mobile games? Is there an interesting story that happened at the beginning of your gaming career?
Kapaoo Games: As hobbies I always have been into computers and consoles and the last 10 I have also been working on collecting and restoring arcade games.
I was always interested in making my own games but before it was very hard to make a game and get it to the public. IOS and Android markets changed this, making it easier for everyone to distribute games to a big audience.
Android Park: How long have you been engaged in the gaming industry? Are you enjoying working in this industry? What makes you most excited about designing or developing a mobile game?
Kapaoo Games: I started just one year ago now but I just do it after hours as I still have my day job It’s fun to do but we spend a lot of time on the games. It is not to be under estimated when you have a couple of games on the market keeping them up to date and creating new games takes up all the free time we have!
The fun thing in creating games is seeing that people actually enjoy them.
