Android Park:  Continue our interview with Jordan Tuzsuzov.  As an independent developer, Jordan Tuzsuzov holds his own opinions on Android development & mobile game industry. Let’s check it out in details.

Android Park: Have you met any difficulties in developing an Android game? If yes, how did you resolve the problems?

Jordan Tuzsuzovs: Biniax was not designed specially for Android, as in 2005 Android didn’t exist. The game was developed with platform independence in mind, and so was coded in ANSI C using the multi-platform SDL library. Thank to this fact, the game was later ported by independent developers to many other platforms. And then comes Android on the scene without support for native development. When native later came, I was surprised how slow the porting of existing applications and libraries (like SDL) is ongoing. Seems the development model was changed and I was just outdated. I was checking over and over for an universal SDL port and finally I contact Pelya (Sergii Pylypenko – author of the most extensive SDL version for Android) with request to recompile Biniax-2 to Android, using his own SDL port. After two or three iterations during one weekend, we agreed on the final settings and he published it in Google Play.

Android Park: Since Android and IOS are the two major mobile platforms that people use now, how do you think about the development future for these two platforms?

Jordan Tuzsuzov: Seems that these are the two operating systems, which will rule the mobile world in the next five years at least. It’s not easy to predict what will happen next – just remember PalmOS and Symbian.

Android Park: Do you have any porting work experience from Android to iOS ?  If not,  will you consider it in future ?

Jordan Tuzsuzov: I don’t have iOS experience. And as already mentioned, Biniax-2 is not an Android or other OS-specific game either. I have seen a port of Biniax-2 for iPhone, but I don’t even mention it on my web site. The port is poorly made, all the credits are removed (completely violating the game license) and after the “improvements” done, it’s practically unplayable.
